Through my undergrad I got interested in aquaitic environements and their ecology. Later on I started working with the paleoecology of Colombia's floodplain lakes usign Diatoms and geochemical elements as proxies for the environmental reconstruction. The aim of this research was to discover the natural dynamics of these ecosystems in a decade-century time span with the aim of future conservation initiatives.
