My current research aims understand how different tropical ecosystems responded to past climate and environmental changes during the Holocene. To pursue this aim, I study diverse biological and geochemical proxies in lake sediments from Cambodia (e.g. pollen grains, microscopic charcoals, stable isotopes, X-Ray Fluorescence). I have also worked on the evaluation of spine tissues as paleoclimate archives in Colombian tropical dry forests, as an attempt to contribute on the understanding of this valuable ecosystem and its vulnerability. Finally, I also have an interest on past human-nature interactions and analyzing the impacts of anthropogenic activities on different ecosystems.
